SimUnion doesn't make any money from this project. It's purely a passion project run by a bunch of nerds who has an interest in aviation. There are no ads, no sponsorships, and nothing here is monetised.
What our website collects
We don't collect any data apart from your public IP address, along with whatever information happens to be attached to that IP address, like your approximate location or network provider. This gets stored by Cloudflare or whichever hosting and URL shortening services we're using to run the sites. We don't run any of our own separate tracking or analytics on top of that.
Discord
If you join our Discord server, whatever's on your public Discord profile isn't managed by us. That's between you and Discord. By joining, you're agreeing to read and follow our server rules, along with Discord's own Terms of Service.
vAMSYS
On vAMSYS, our virtual airline management platform, your email address, name, and Discord details may be saved and seen by airline admins, moderators, VA owners, and staff members. That's just how vAMSYS works, and it's needed to actually run the virtual airline: approving registrations, managing rosters, handling moderation, and so on.
The booking site (logging in with vAMSYS)
If you use our flight booking site and choose to log in with vAMSYS, here's exactly what that involves.
- You type your vAMSYS username and password on vAMSYS's own login page, never on ours. We never see, receive, or store your password.
- Once you're logged in, vAMSYS hands our site a limited access token that lets it read and act on a few specific pieces of your pilot data, listed below.
- That token gets stored in an encrypted browser cookie so you stay logged in between visits. It isn't shared with anyone else.
Specific permissions we ask for:
identity:basic: your name and usernamepilot:read: your pilot profile, rank, and statsflights:read: your existing bookings and flight historyflights:write: creating or cancelling bookings on your behalf, and only when you actually click "Book" or "Cancel" yourself
We don't ask for anything beyond these, and we don't keep a separate database of your pilot data anywhere else. This site is simply a frontend sitting on top of vAMSYS's own systems.
If you don't agree
If any of this doesn't sit right with you, or you don't agree with our server rules, you're welcome to leave our Discord server and leave the virtual airline on vAMSYS whenever you like.
